About: Ugly Betty
Ugly Betty is an American television dramedy that premiered on September 28, 2006, on ABC in the United States. The series follows the life of Betty Suarez and her job at popular fashion magazine Mode. Betty is smart, sweet and hard working. The only problem is that she's not thin and beautiful like all her coworkers at Mode, the high-fashion magazine where she works. When publishing mogul Bradford Meade hands the reigns of Mode, the bible of the fashion industry, over to this son, Daniel, he specifically hires Betty as his son's new assistant - mostly because she's the only woman in New York Daniel won't sleep with. Though Daniel is reluctant to accept her at first, Betty's hard work and determination earns Daniel's respect.

Neither of them is really all that familiar with the fashion world, but the two are a formidable team against those who will do anything to see them fall. In particular are Wilhelmina Slater, who Bradford Meade passed her over and promoted Daniel to the coveted job, and her assistant Marc and the receptionist Amanda. Despite these characters Betty does find a friend in Christina, who works as the magazine's in-house seamstress. Back at home, Betty’s father, Ignacio, and her sister, Hilda, worry that Betty is setting herself up for a fall, while her nephew Justin encourages his aunt to dream big (even if he's aghast at her fashion sense).
